Comcast SportsNet New England (CSN New England) is a regional cable sports television network based in Burlington, Massachusetts that operates in Massachusetts, eastern and central Connecticut, Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. CSN New England began in 1981 as PRISM New England as the cable home for the Hartford Whalers, Boston Celtics, Boston Breakers, and various college teams. It was co-owned with the original PRISM network in Philadelphia by Spectacor. In 1983, the network was sold to Cablevision and it was rebranded as SportsChannel New England. As with the other SportsChannel networks, it joined Fox Sports Net and was rebranded as Fox Sports New England on January 28, 1998 (later FSN New England). In later years, it carried selected New York Mets games to parts of Connecticut not served by MSG or FSN New York (now MSG Plus), which then produced the games.
In 2007, Cablevision sold its remaining share of the network to Comcast and on October 1, 2007 the network was rebranded as CSN New England.
CSN New England, along with the other Comcast SportsNet branded networks, was revamped with a new network logo and graphics package (similar to CSN Bay Area) in August 2008.

Gary Tanguay is the studio host alongside Donny Marshall. Greg Dickerson conducts interviews with the players and coach Doc Rivers. Gorman and Heinsohn also preview and recap the game.
Airs live at 6:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. every weeknight. Sports Tonight recaps the day in Boston sports and covers the latest headlines and is hosted by Michael Felger and Gary Tanguay. Lou Merloni is the baseball analyst, Cedric Maxwell is the basketball analyst, Bob Beers is the hockey analyst, and Troy Brown is the football analyst. Frequent guests include Steve Buckley, Dan Shaughnessy, Ron Borges, Jackie MacMullan, Michael Silverman, Joe Haggerty, Michael Holley, Tom E. Curran, Sean McAdam, Rob Bradford, Chris Gasper, Kevin Paul Dupont, and other Boston area sports media personalities and writers. Jonathan Papelbon also makes a weekly appearance during Boston Red Sox season.
Airs live at 6 p.m., 10:30 p.m., and 1 p.m. every night. SportsNet Central is a daily highlight show that covers the day in Boston sports. Hosts and reporters include Kyle Draper, Mike Giardi, Carolyn Manno, Jessica Moran, Bob Neumeier, Kevin Walsh, Eric Frede, and Nicole Zaloumis.
Michael Felger hosts a studio show every Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. Sports Sunday reviews the previous week in New England Sports. Lou Merloni, Bob Ryan, Ron Borges, Michael Holley, Chris Gasper, Sean McAdam, Cedric Maxwell, Glenn Ordway, Gerry Callahan, Kevin Paul Dupont, and others are part of discussions with Felger. The "conference call" segment features writers from across the country who call in to talk about the national sports scene.
Airs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. during baseball season and hosted by Greg Dickerson with analysts Lou Merloni, Sean McAdam, and Steve Buckley. Michael Felger was the original host, but had to leave the show after committing to 98.5 The Sports Hub in August 2009 because the show is simulcast on 98.5 competitor WEEI. Bob Neumeier and Lou Merloni serve as substitutes when Greg Dickerson is unavailable. Dale Arnold and Damon Amendolara serve as substitute analysts. The show takes viewer and listener calls about the latest issues regarding the Boston Red Sox.

CSN New England carries FSN programming in lieu of an FSN affiliate. This offers the region access to a variety of college sports, notably Pac-10 Conference basketball on various nights, plus Big 12 Conference and Pac-10 football on Saturdays during their respective seasons. They also formerly aired FSN studio shows, such as The Best Damn Sports Show Period, and the FSN Final Score, before the network added its own SportsNet Central program in December 2009.
CSN New England HD is a 1080i high definition simulcast of CSN New England programming including live Boston Celtics games, studio shows, and series.
